Nicole Cowans is a freelance performance artist and teacher living in California. She is passionate about empowering diverse voices and has experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels in group and private settings. She most recently taught voice and speech, acting and musical theatre singing for undergrads at the University of California, Irvine, where she studied with Master teachers Cynthia Bassham and Phil Thompson. She served as Voice/Text Coach for The Black Light Arts Collective production of Comb Yo' Hair Or You'll Look Like A Slave and as Assistant Dialect Coach for UCI’s production of I Dream of Chang and Eng. She has taught in many organizations across the world including: Hussian College, Crafton HIlls Community College, University of California Irvine, Center Theatre Group, Pacific Residence Youth Conservatory, Laselle College of Arts in Singapore, Seydways Acting Studio, Cal State University Fresno, Institut D'l Teatre in Spain, The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, and Adishakti Labratory for Theatre Arts Research in India. She has also participated as an assisting teacher at the Voice & Speech Trainer Association Conference in 2017, and at the Fitzmaurice Voicework Teacher Training Certification in 2018. Nicole is bilingual (Spanish) and specializes in coaching in both languages.
