ADI CABRAL (they/them) is the Associate Professor of Voice and Movement in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Nevada, Reno, and works professionally as a Dialect Coach, Intimacy Director, and Audiobook Narrator. Adi’s professional coaching credits include productions at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities (CO), the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (MO), New Repertory Theatre (MA), the Stella Adler Studio of Acting (NY), Mildred’s Umbrella Theatre Company (TX), Stage Q (WI), The New Hazlett Theater (PA), The Hangar Theatre Company (NY), Central Square Theatre (MA), Utah Shakespeare Festival (UT), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland), and Darlinghurst Theatre (Australia). Their research focuses on training methods for the LGBTQ+ Identified actor and cultural competency in voice and speech training. Cabral is the co-author of the text "Here’s How to Teach Voice and Communication Skills to Transgender Women," and is currently writing "Queering the Stage: Inclusive Approaches to Performing Gender and Sexuality" and "Performing Accents and Dialects of the Spanish-Speaking Diaspora" under contract with Routledge. They have been elected the new VASTA President and will serve one year as President Elect before stepping into the role of President from July 2024-2026.
