Michael is an actor, theatre maker, teacher, and coach, currently based in New Hampshire. He served as the Head of Voice, Speech, and Text for the National Theatre Conservatory M.F.A. in Acting program from 2005 until the school’s closing in 2012. He has served as a Visiting Professor, teaching Voice/Speech/Text and Acting, for the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor’s Training Program, the B.F.A. Actor and Musical Theatre Training Programs at the University of Utah, and the M.F.A and B.A. programs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Previous academic appointments include at Saint Lawrence University, the State University of New York at Potsdam, and Rhode Island College.
Production vocal coaching credits include the Guthrie Theater, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and the American Repertory Theater, and for directors Michael Kahn, Robert Woodruff, Libby Appel, Mark Wing-Davey, Valerie Curtis-Newton, Martha Clarke, Dominique Serrand, and Ethan McSweeney.
Acting credits include appearances in leading and featured roles as a member of the resident acting company at Trinity Rep, for Dallas Theater Center, TheatreWorks in Colorado Springs, and on ALIVE TV for PBS.
