Lorenzo Gonzalez is a theatre performer, director, and educator. He worked under the tutelage of for seven years and currently teaches acting and voice in the Performance BFA program at Naropa University. Prior to this appointment he was a professor of theatre at Tulane University and taught workshops and seminars at various institutions such as North Eastern University, George Mason, Gonzaga, Stanford, Vanderbilt, USC, UCLA, UCSB, University of Richmond, University of Iowa and Ole Miss. He has fostered the intellectual, artistic, and personal development of children and youth through drama education as a Traveling Theatre Teacher with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Arts Education Branch; an Artist Educator with Los Angeles’ Center Theatre Group (CTG) Performing for Los Angeles Youth (PLAY); a performer, director and instructor for the California Youth Theatre and The Virginia Avenue Project; a faculty member of Los Angeles County High School of the Arts (LACHSA) Theatre Department; and six tours with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Educational Outreach Program. Among the various theatres he has worked as a performer are The Actor’s Gang; The Independent Shakespeare Co. in L.A.; The RED CAT at Disney Hall; San Jose Repertory; The Ahmanson in L.A.; Tacoma Actors Guild; Seattle Repertory Theatre; Arizona Theatre Company; the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for five seasons; El Teatro Campesino; Colorado Shakespeare Festival; Idaho Shakespeare Festival; Fort Worth Shakespeare in the Park and most recently the New Orleans Summer Lyric Theatre and the Shakespeare Festival at Tulane. He was a guest star in TV’s, “Solo en America.” His voice-over work is on numerous CD Rom games and in the documentary “Blossoms of Fire / Ramos de Fuego.” As a member of the theatre ensemble Zoo District he served as Associate Artistic Director and produced The Lively Lad at [Inside] The Ford with the help of grants from ASK Theatre projects and the Ford Foundation; co-produced and acted in the award-winning The Masterand Margarita and Pathé X; played Shvonder in The Heart of a Dog presented in Kiev at the First Annual Bulgakov Festival. Currently he collaborates with the multidisciplinary ensembles and alternative theatre companies ArtSpot Productions, Mondo Bizarro, and the International Theatre Laboratorium-USA (ITL-USA).
