Alicia Corral, PhD, is a singer, teacher, researcher of the voice and traditional sacred and meditative signing. She is a certified Vedic chant teacher from Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India. She's a certified hatha yoga instructor from Svyasa University, Bangalore, and holds a degree in drama, and masters in theatre research, from the Institut del Teatre of Barcelona. From 2012 to 2018, Alicia taught movement theater at the College of Dramatic Art in Galicia, Spain and has been involved in numerous voice and body performances. She earned her Doctorate from Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid, focusing on the therapeutic effects of voice and mantra. Alicia is an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework, trained at the Royal Central School of Speech Drama, London. Her research includes intensive work with the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in Pontedera, Italy, exploring Art as a Vehicle, and she regularly visits India to study Vedic chanting and Dhrupad singing. Currently, Alicia teaches, offers concets and collaborates with educational centers, musicians, and artists as a voice and singing specialist.

Dra. Alicia Corral (PhD) (ella/ellas) es actriz, cantante e investigadora de la voz y del canto tradicional, especializada en cantos antiguos de la India. Profesora de canto védico, titulada por la escuela Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram de Chennai (India), instructora de hatha yoga por la Svyasa University de Bangalore (India) y licenciada en arte dramático por el Institut del Teatre de Barcelona. En 2010 realizó su Máster en investigación teatral en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona sobre los cantantes Baul de Bengala de la India y su paralelismo con el trabajo vocal de Jerzy Grotowski. Ese año ganó el Premio de Investigación del Institut del Teatre de Barcelona para hacer un trabajo de campo en India, donde estudió técnica vocal oriental, yoga del sonido y cantos tradicionales. En 2013 se formó como profesora de técnica vocal Fitzmaurice Voicework en la Central School of Speech Drama de Londres (Inglaterra) obteniendo el título de Associate Teacher. En el 2014 grabó su primer disco con su grupo Namaskar; www.namaskarcantovedico.com. Del 2007 al 2019 realiza varios viajes a Pontedera (Italia) para trabajar con el Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards en su investigación vocal del Arte como Vehículo y desde el 2010 hasta la actualidad viaja asiduamente a India para aprender canto védico en la escuela KYM de Chennai y canto clásico indio (Dhrupad) con sus maestros los Gundecha Brothers en Bhopal. Del 2012 al 2018 trabajó como profesora de teatro de movimiento en la Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Galicia. Ha realizado numerosas performances, desarrollando su investigación de la voz, el cuerpo y la escena, que ha presentado tanto nacional, como internacionalmente. En el 2015 culminó su investigación de Doctorado por la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid y en la actualidad colabora con centros y escuelas, músicos y artistas como especialista en voz y canto.
