Melissa Grogan is an Austin-based Vocal Expert with 21 years teaching experience. She is an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework, has studied Knight-Thompson Speechwork, Presence with Patsy Rodenburg, and Body-Mind Centering at the Body-Mind Centering Institute and with Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen. She is currently pursuing a certificate as a Somatic Movement Educator. She has worked in film and TV, most notably as the Dialect Coach for the AMC series The Son, starring Pierce Brosnan. She has worked for local production companies, such as Rooster Teeth, and independent TV/film productions including The Chosen. She teaches classes and workshops locally, online, regionally, nationally, and internationally. She was the Associate Professor of Voice and Speech in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University for 16 years and was the Secretary for the Board of Voice and Speech Trainers Association for 3 years. She runs a private practice now, Austin Vocal Empowerment - Somatic Sound. Clients have included civil servants, teachers, business professionals, yogis, somatic therapists, and performers. Some of her clients include actors such as Kyle Chandler (Wolf of Wallstreet, Super 8), Dr. Victoria DeFrancesco (MSNBC), Juston Street (My All American, Everybody Wants Some), and Craig Nigh (Breaking Bad). She is certified in Advanced Pranic Healing, Sound Therapy, is a Reiki Master Teacher, Yoga Instructor (200hr), and Meditation Teacher (300 hr).
