The Fitzmaurice Institute, African Region, is responsible for growing, connecting, and supporting the community of certified teachers in those areas, as well as organizing events and outreach for the public.

Catherine visited in July and ran a weekend workshop in Cape Town.  The workshop was booked up in no time and the response from participants was very inspiring. I am now running regular sessions for people other than the theatre students I teach!  A couple of participants flew in from other cities and provinces, which was fantastic. It feels like the reach of the work is being extended (certainly in South Africa). This has been challenging, given that I am the only certified teacher in the region and I have a full time academic post at the University of Cape Town (and have recently taken on the position of Chair/Head of Theatre). If you’re reading this and know of any FI Certified Instructor in the region who would be interested in doing the work, please pass on my contacts AND if you are planning to be in South Africa, please make contact!
