News:
Community Teaching Initiative
I’m writing to announce that the Fitzmaurice Institute is opening a Request For Proposals (RFP) for a new project we are calling the Community Teaching Initiative.
We have been hearing for quite some time that many trems want to be more involved in Fitzmaurice Voicework, in the Institute, and in community with other trems, but don’t see a clear path to doing so. Many trems have also said they want to share their teaching, but don’t see a clear path for that either. We are hoping that this offering will create openings and opportunities for people to do both of these things. The attached flyer and linked webpage will lay out the specifics of what this offering is, but I wanted to share some of the thinking behind this as part of the announcement. If you don’t need context, and you just want to get down to business, click the links on the flyer and get started!
- We want to create ways for trems to work together in teaching spaces (IRL, virtual or hybrid), with teaching material that is either fully fleshed out and ready to go, or in need of development. We want to support trems (you!) in finding others to help you develop teaching material if you need that, and also to work with others in the teaching space — one of the unique things about FV is how much co-teaching there is in our training spaces. So there is a place on the application to indicate the state of your work, and who you might want help from in developing it if you need it. We also hope to see submissions from pairs and teams of trems. If you need teammates, we would also love to “matchmake” for those who are open to it.
- We want to offer trems material, logistical, and (when possible/necessary) financial support for actually running classes and workshops. The FI will provide support in terms of graphic design, enrollment management, use of the FI PayPal account, the FI zoom account if needed, and may be able to offer direct financial assistance for up-front deposits on in-person space if that’s the way you choose to go. Following Micha Espinosa's amazing work with the two recent online conferences, we now have a very large and global mailing list. We ask that you share a small portion of what your event brings in in return — details are on the webpage.
- We want to continue to activate and facilitate the discussion of the Fitzmaurice Institute values. Lee Su-Feh has been facilitating conversation about these over the last few months. We ask that you follow this link to the values statement and reflect on them when you are developing your proposal with the understanding that the document is still in a developmental stage. You can share any feedback about the values directly with Su-Feh at leesufeh@gmail.com.
- We want to share our amazing work with as many people around the world as we can!
This RFP is a rolling application process, but for those who work better with deadlines, the first round will close Friday Nov. 19, 2021, after which we will evaluate the process and messaging, make changes, and then issue another RFP.
Please note that access to the online application form requires use of the FI website password.
